Participant and Vehicle Requirements

Basic Event and Safety Guidelines

  1. Ensure your vehicle is eligible to participate by consulting the Milwaukee Region SCCA RallyCross supps and the SCCA RallyCross Rulebook.  If you have any questions or would like to discuss a specific case, please contact Joe Terrien.
  2. The driver is responsible for the safety of their vehicle at all times throughout the event and must present a completed copy of the RallyCross Self-Tech form at check-in. Safety Stewards may reject any vehicle at any time over safety concerns. Please pay particular attention to items such as working seat belts, throttle return action, secure battery, no excessive oil or antifreeze leaks, adequate brake pedal, tire condition and pressure, tie-rods, and wheel bearings.
  3. All loose items on the interior and exterior of the vehicle such as hubcaps, detachable fender skirts, speaker boxes, jacks, and toolkits must be removed while participating in the event.
  4. On RallyCross event days, all competition vehicles must display their registered race number prominently on both sides of the car with numerals that are at least 6” tall and in a color that has a high contrast to their background. Two-driver cars are reminded to ensure that they have changed their numbers along with each driver swap as runs will be scored against the number displayed.
  5. All adults taking part in an SCCA event as a competitor, on track participant, or volunteer or worker accessing the restricted (hot) areas must sign the SCCA waiver upon arrival or have a digital Annual Minor Waiver on file for the calendar year. There may also be waivers required by the venue.
  6. All minors (under the age of 18 in WI and IL) taking part in an SCCA event as a competitor, on track participant, or volunteer or
worker with access to restricted (hot) areas must have a digital Annual Minor Waiver on file for the calendar year. An overview of the process that must be followed and the relevant links may be found here.
  7. A valid drivers license is required in order to participate. Please bring your drivers license with you to registration.  Temporary permits are allowed and all restrictions or requirements of the permit must be followed during the event.
  8. Closed toe shoes are required (no sandals or flip-flops) while participating in the event.
  9. Helmets are required for all drivers and passengers when on course. See this list of approved certifications. Note that helmets only certified by DOT are not eligible. If you don’t know the rating of your helmet the certification label should be on the back at the rear or inside underneath the padding. We do have limited loaners available. Approved helmets can be purchased at online retailers and at local race shops such as Pegasus Auto Racing Supplies and Northstar Motorsports.
