Event Overview

PCA Diablo Region DE at Thunderhill is a high-performance driver education and open-lapping event presented by PCA – Diablo at Thunderhill Raceway Park. The scheduled date is 2026-09-11.

Schedule and Format

  • Friday, September 11, 2026.
  • Limited size run groups, lots of track space, tons of track time.
  • Regular registration is open from Friday, June 19, 2026, at noon to midnight on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
  • No refunds after Sunday, August 30, 2026.
  • We are running a four run group format, which allows five sessions on the track. Come out and enjoy the newly paved track.
  • We expect to run four run groups: Beginner w/Instruction/Beginner-Solo, Intermediate, Advanced, and Instructors.
  • If two different drivers are planning to drive the same vehicle, BOTH drivers MUST be qualified to drive in different run groups (i.e., one driver must have enough DE experience to run in a higher run group than the other driver). Both drivers will not be allowed to drive in the same run group.
  • No passengers or guests are allowed in cars during hot lap sessions.
  • Run Group Selection (Run group classifications may change depending on the number of cars registered for the event):
  • Early registration will close at midnight on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
  • All refunds are subject to a $75 cancelation fee. Sorry, no refunds after Sunday, August 30, 2026.
  • 3. Final Event details, schedules, and instructions will be emailed to you about 1 week before the event.

Entry Fees and Registration

  • Late Registration (+$100) starts on Monday, August 31, 2026.
  • No refunds after Sunday, August 30, 2026.
  • In appreciation of our instructors, we are waiving the registration fee for instructors.
  • Diablo Region PCA Members get a $50 discount for this event.
  • Garages are available for rent at Thunderhill Raceway directly through the Thunderhill website: https://www.thunderhill.com/renting/garage.
  • Participants registering as Beginner w/Instruction may be placed on a waitlist until we confirm the total number of Instructors for this event. The waitlist will be cleared on a first-registered/first-cleared basis.
  • We take safety very seriously and will “black flag” any participant who disregards passing protocols or drives in an unsafe manner. If deemed necessary by the Safety Officer, CDI, or Driver Education Chair, access to the track may be denied with no refund of registration fees.
  • Will not drive their own cars on the track (unless they have registered as a Participant and paid the Participant fee).
  • Registration Fee: $500 for Beginners Requiring Instruction, $450 for Beginners driving Solo, and $450 for Intermediate and Advanced Drivers. Diablo Region PCA Members will be given a $50 discount. Please enter a valid Diablo Region PCA number when you register.
  • Beginning on Monday, August 31, 2026, a procrastination fee of $100 will be charged (excluding instructors).

Driver and Vehicle Requirements

  • We take safety very seriously and will “black flag” any participant who disregards passing protocols or drives in an unsafe manner. If deemed necessary by the Safety Officer, CDI, or Driver Education Chair, access to the track may be denied with no refund of registration fees.
  • Safety Inspection Information:
  • The following sponsor is offering free tech inspections:
  • Adhere to all Diablo PCA and track operator requirements.
  • Private instructors/coaches who show up on the day of the event without following the pre-registration requirements are not guaranteed to participate in this event. Please contact the CDI if you have any questions.

  • Event requirements.
  • 2. Per PCA requirements, you must be 18 or older with a valid Driver’s License to participate in this event.
  • 4. Drivers are invited (strongly recommended) to attend our DE Introduction briefing called DE 101/Groundschool. There will be a discussion on driving Thunderhill Raceway and an opportunity for drivers of any level to share their experiences, ask questions, etc.
